Rudder Boys & Girls Gymnastics Teams Advance to State Competition

The Rudder High School Boys and Girls Gymnastics teams are heading to the state competition after strong showings at the Region 2 Championships, held on Wednesday and Thursday, May 30 - 31, 2022 at Rudder High School.

The Rudder Boys Gymnastics team won second place overall at the regional competition.

Rudder’s Asher Rice won All-Around Regional Champion, and Elijah Acosta won Regional Vault Table Champion.

Jordan Giaton- 8th All Around

Elijah Acosta- 10th All Around

Ryan Stutts- 10th Pommel Horse

"I am excited to represent Rudder High School and Bryan ISD at the Texas High School Gymnastics State Championships,” said Rudder Gymnastics Coach Omar Loya. “We expect a strong showing at the state meet and are keeping the tradition of excellence at Rudder HS Gymnastics alive and well."

The Rudder Girls Gymnastics team also won second place overall at the regional competition.

Rudder’s Macy Fletcher won All-Around Regional Champion, and Savannah Hall earned second place.

Macy Fletcher- 4th Bars, 4th Beam, 5th Floor, 7th Vault,

Ellie Crouch- 8th Bars, 10th Vault 

Abbey Ricks- 7th Floor, 8th Vault

Savannah Hall and Ellie Crouch- Co-champions Beam

“The girls team is currently ranked 8th in the State going into the State meet,” said Rudder Girls Gymnastics Head Coach Cali Currie. “I believe if we hit our routines and have a strong showing on the first day of compulsory competition; [w]e could possibly be a top six team at State. I’m proud of the girls for making it this far with some of the adversities they've faced as a team this year.  They are excited and ready to compete and will be representing Rudder well.”

The 2022 Texas High School State Gymnastics Championships will take place April 21-23, 2022 at Rockwall High School.
