Sul Ross Elementary Wins Statewide Architecture Award

Sul Ross Elementary was recently awarded two Stars of Distinction for excellence in the areas of Architecture Planning and Design by the Texas Association of School Administrators (TASA) and Texas Association of School Boards (TASB) at their annual convention.

Statewide winners were announced as part of the Exhibit of School Architecture competition, which showcases new and renovated Texas schools and celebrates excellence in planning and design of the learning environment.  Only 27 districts from across the state earned distinctions in the categories of: community, planning, transformation, design, value and sustainability.

Superintendent Dr. Christie Whitbeck praised the efforts of District personnel and Stantec, the architecture firm responsible for the design work.

“I am so proud of all of the collaborative work that went into the beautiful renovations at Ross Elementary,” Dr. Whitbeck said. “Stantec and District officials worked together to create a learning space that uses more natural light and showcases the library as the center of the school.  Our students, teachers and the surrounding community are the true benefactors of these needed renovations, and we appreciate being recognized by TASA/TASB for this important work.”
