Students identified as GT will be served at each grade level for 45-55 minutes weekly through a pull-out program. Students are provided with a variety of learning opportunities that integrate content in the four foundation curricular areas (language arts, math, science, and social studies). The curriculum for the G/T pull-out program begins with the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS). Units of study for each grade level are created and implemented to accelerate and enrich the TEKS in order to promote G/T state and local goals. Texas Performance Standards Project objectives and lessons are used to guide planning building up to major projects. Students will demonstrate skills in self-directed learning while completing projects which incorporate critical thinking, creative thinking, productive thinking, problem-solving, research, and communication during the pull-out program.
