“While we will always focus on equipping our students for success through academics, we know that ‘soft skills’ are also very important in creating a well-rounded citizen for their years beyond the classroom walls,” Superintendent Christie Whitbeck said.
The monthly Essential Eight character traits are:
Age-appropriate lessons are rolled out each month during the corresponding trait. These weekly lessons build upon each other during the month, and students receive new lessons when they move to the next grade level.
“This is not a one-year initiative or a program, but a way of life within Bryan ISD for our students and our employees going forward,” Whitbeck said. “We are hopeful that our parents and community leaders will join us in reinforcing these traits as we help our students become exceptional citizens.”
