Math Process Standards

Process standards describe the ways in which students are expected to engage in the math content.  In effort to build successfully independent math thinkers students will

  • apply mathematics to problems arising in everyday life, society, and the workplace
  • use problem-solving models
  • select tools and techniques to solve problems
  • communicate mathematical ideas, reasoning, and their implications
  • create and use representations to organize, record, and communicate mathematical ideas
  • effectively communicate mathematical ideas, reasoning, and their implications using multiple representations
  • display, explain, or justify mathematical ideas and arguments using precise mathematical language in written or oral communication.

Math TEKS

The Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) are the state standards for what students should know and be able to do. TEKS are provided for all subjects and grade levels for use in Texas classrooms.
