The Bryan ISD Board of Trustees adopted a 2017 tax rate that will lower the total tax rate by 1 cent while generating additional revenue for the District.
The 1 cent decline is comprised of a 2 cent increase in the maintenance and operations tax rate and a 3 cent decline in the debt service tax rate.
- Why Does the Sample Ballot Language Ask Voters to Approve a Tax Rate Increase Instead of the Total Tax Rate Decrease?
State law requires specific language on the ballot that looks to the M&O tax rate only and not the total tax rate.
