I call this meeting of the Bryan Independent School District order let the record show that a quorum board members is present that meeting has been duly called and didn't notice to this meeting has been posted in accordance with Texas open meetings act Texas government code chapter 551  I wished to extend a warm welcome to everyone present at the appropriate time citizens by make comments about existing policy present commendations or Express areas of concern topics to be limited to five minutes comments concerning specific students or Personnel will be heard in closed session to turn off the sound on your mobile phones and it this time we will stand for the pledge of allegiance to be presented by Neil Elementary School Shipwreck Museum good evening everybody last time I came I brought my sister this time I bought a slightly younger Weather Channel call Rod powder Sam's Warehouse basketball Google, Domino's Estados unidos ataca DIY Republican representative on the national city limit Tire good morning home basketball player Best Buy we have problems call the Texas flag on the play 150 Elizabeth great I love it did you get a card Texas free first item after the pledges are recognition portion and we would like to start with our deacons Livestock Show in Earth yes if you have heard from Ron High School Grand Champion walk before you at you as he walks up with his mother I'm going to talk a little bit about and then I'm just got this a small portion of the wonderful accolades this young man's past Tristan is a student at Bryan High as a sophomore and as I going through and looking at information I got a wonderful recognition of a congratulation email to me and I thought what did I do well turned out quickly that we had a new record Setter and bride hi Tristan said a brand new record of a Champion turkey at the Houston Livestock Show how much was the turkey you asked do I was the turkey turkey Soulful 110,000. Tristan is a part of the local 4-H organization and he has been showing and as you can see all the wonderful act like he has he is great great great has obviously student but it's definitely have wonderful recognition on his part as a Bryan High School student real briefly because we got some more wonderful students I like for the boy to be to be recognized as well talk about some of the other acting Lasik Tristan has because this is just a small Suncoast Open MRI Hi-C also on top of and he also won grand champion and Reserve Grand Champion at the Brazos County show and he's also currently working Eagle Scout project a lot accomplished very very proud of him are they going to start the turkey at the cafeteria and get up the price of the turkey we're going to go down just a little bit Walmart Wickham Park  okay I'm Scott pesto from dried High come over Niagara parment with Barbara folks, I've got this a few are wonderful students here with us today I've got with the spot teams we left on the kids back at the school they're working on their District Upper Township right now as we speak they're at the high school so we left we got to go back what I've got here with this today I've got the horse team which consists announcements in a few just raise your hand real quick Max which could be with us and Haley manry we also have got with us Lisa there. Justin Birch Morgan Payne who plays 6 Brazos Valley show on the livestock team in Austinburg oh who cannot also be with the dairy cattle we've got Casey Spruce Kendra Michaela Cruz which is with this today also mechanic Bank United a huge accomplishment that's the overall  winter and her category if you will and then we've also the floor culture team Jay Ramirez but she's got some his Awards here with him lowering gustavo's Richard Soto Alonzo Laredo Jerry Place. 7th at Tarleton State and 5th & McLennan of this past year so like I said we've got to Brazos County we had two individuals who up here and Mikayla Cruz and Peyton if y'all Ray Charles hands real quick they showed heifers at the Brazos Valley show Lisa dergan who's also with us to Shota a goat who did extreme well there at the show and Morgan Payne who also showed a hog here in our County show like I said star call Russ do I know we got a pretty big agenda there if you would give these guys around of Applause please thank you hi Tristan walk over here with that big cowboy hat Melissa so she is just big enough Vegas graduation thank you thank you all and congratulations okay next up we have a an essay winner principal at Sam Houston yes it is an honor to be able to introduce you Taylor a Sam Houston Elementary 5th grader and this year are 5th graders participated in the annual essay contest for the Daughters of the American Revolution and it's essay contest included all fifth graders from the entire Brazos Valley the lot of people participating and the winner of this contest put it on other than our own Taylor's fire so we are very proud of her  thanks really the beginning because then she had her as they sent the state competition because not only was it chosen to represent the Ray category in the state competition but it was chosen the best essay from all local fifth through eighth graders stop going to be able to tell you what the topic was and hey what was the topic  American Patriots who supported American symbol for Independence and I wrote about Crispus Attucks  hey and a couple of weeks ago she was at will a she helped with the radio spot at Katie a.m. and she did an amazing job there so I think a future in journalism broadcasting all kinds of right up her alley so we're very proud of her congratulations state next up rangerette yeah what does Awards the ranger Estes guide  I have some fans in this Christmas  good evening at home on the director for the ranger at my fits ended Kelsey I curse my right thigh like the girls are going to introduce themselves to you and let you know the awards that they one I'm with recently just as past weekend and we're competing at Fiesta Texas contest in San Antonio with are so low humble and a match before that we went to contest in Austin for the showtime International Austin Extravaganza and out of now high schools better high school left with pics of the winners out of the categories front of they are and so we are very very proud I laugh at Jay and Kelsey did also we and the parents of these young lady that the way to represent Bryan College Station with that many with six winners nine high schools are we left off in that day and often if there is a big Fine Arts area and I just kind of what happened to get my degree from there and so am I got to stand proudly as a longhorn there but I also more than that I come home probably to my husband and said look what are Bryan College Station girls did so let me let them introduce themselves to and let them brag about their Awards cuz amazing hi of Alex Perez and I need to do anything 81 antelope and also a division Livernois Baby R Us Paradise Inn what haddock NCR solo showcase the girls will be showcasing other solos this Saturday at Rudder High School auditorium at 5 book NLB followed by a ranger at review at 6 so we would hope that you all come out the show is going fabulous mini of the numbers be doing will be from a New York when we visit New York we've kind of captured some of the things from there too so we love to have you come see us turn on flashlight the smallest okay best Daniel Hunter I'm sorry, I should have been held I am proud to introduce to you our teacher of the month Karina Mesa and I'm going to read from her nomination letter Karina Mesa the Energizer Bunny of teachers she was always on the move and never stopped with a smile on her face and enthusiasm in her step mrs. Mesa provides the thrilling a patient for her students imagine a classroom environment where students are stimulated each and every minute where their brains are stretched as far as they can go and kids are exhausted by the end of the day because of being pushed to their limit mrs. Mesa students have been described as her soldiers they are dedicated work hard and turn down a challenge this is because she believes that they can do it so they do mrs. Mesa not only schools her students but her parents are a large part of processed parents listen to everything that she says and Implement what is required so that her students are successful she insist that parents do their part and they do when I'm in her classroom what stands out to me is that her students are always engaged in some form or fashion weather there in working with each other writing responses to text or explaining a problem remember this is only second grade engagement is always at a high level and meaning she stays for hours after school and making sure that every lesson and activity are well-planned and that all of her students needs are met teachers off and go learning walk to mrs. Mason's room which is exciting to me because she has so much to spare yes I have to say the Henderson Elementary is a much better place with the teacher for these reasons and more I feel Karina is deserving of the BISD teacher of the month my daughter congratulations quickjack Sergio thank you I'm going to introduce the secondary teacher of the month Miss Jackie Martin and I'm going to read for her donation letter doing you at Bryan high school jacket Martin has demonstrated an ability to work with students from diverse populations I know her from a personal dedication professional growth and Improvement Hillary instructional techniques he behaves ethical and models good citizenship at work in her Communications with me she is stop on the respect integrity and commitment to adapting and truck needs to meet the diverse Learners as an outdoor one Jackie works with students to lay the foundation of success in future mathematic classes she tires of sleep 6 activities ideas to improve or instruction to create an engaging Learning Center classroom I have been her classroom on numerous occasions and witness her draw reluctant learn scaffolding per instructions so each student can experience success  she plans activities are matching galleries learning walls think pair share excetera in smart board games such as Jeopardy and whack a mole and that is really a game I saw that so students can enjoy what learning is all about Jackie also utilized technology in her classroom to increase the level engagement have Austin's things students work problems on a Smartboard and explaining their solution to the rest of the class she has recently Incorporated web classroom management program in which students have created avatars and are then rewarded for participation and behavior and it is very very successful because you spent time to research and implementing this program behavior problems have a decrease in the time students been engaging in learning has increased this is one of the many reasons why Bryan High School wants to nominate this Jackie Martin as a secondary teacher of the month call wife mobile how to spell for teachers and thank you to Citibank for supporting his endeavors will take a moment for those of you came for the recognition you're welcome to go with us  you don't have to go welcome to I have I have one card for Citizens comment from three one currently attending Henderson Elementary and part of the dual-language program there the next one begins the fall and submitted paperwork for kindergarten program at Henderson as well Tapas his brothers I'm here on behalf of the current but more importantly the future Anderson Elementary students 10 through the two-way system that integrates link to minority and language minority and provides instructions in English and I also represent local businesses that will seek future staff that have bilingual skills I'll speak up Pizza  the first one to say thank you for your personal time and commitment and serving as trustees and know your job is not an easy at how to determining the best record to take that not only serves students as a whole but it's barely responsible however I trust it is should you live and work within our community you offer relevant and real-world perspectives to District staff that goes beyond just Pub number start interesting ratio to help education provided by B I will prepare students to graduate are additional education to pursue their chosen professions education skills that are current and relevant to an increasingly diverse community local and Global impact I believe that the two major functions of Education or to transmit the culture values and lessons of the past to the current generation Tara children for the world in which they will live preparing children for the world in which they will live is becoming more difficult than ever and retrospect there has been a compliance of changes I have significant impacted the direction of modern education I believe this a first Major Impact with computers in the next will be the English Spanish the first personal desktop computer was created in 1974 called the alto Apple came along in 1977 by the way if you were I didn't get my first computer until I was in college and even then I was one of the few of my dorm that had one today my two-year-old knows how to access his favorite game change my settings call his nana toddlerhood in all of our lives in one form or another and to think that the air of computers in our lives turn 35 years old computers and job opportunity and are on the ride wearing creeping Level Society that extends well outside our country's borders that forces us to embrace a more diverse Society in mindset modern high-speed computers and Telecommunications have Sissy play do the rapid movement of Financial Resources goods and services and have created and interdependence among the world's economies to benefit from these kids Nations must be competitive and to be competitive they must have a well-educated multi-language Workforce sick and not on the compete but communicate within the global Arena additional facts there are 329 million native spanish-speakers which is the head of English speakers which is 328 million 50.5 million the Hispanic population of the United States as of 2010 constituting a 43% increase from 20 132.8 million day estimated Hispanic population in 2050 I believe that means we must prepare our students for a multi-language much like what was done with the Inception of computers the global Plainfield to notes that the US must change our educational curriculum again are we will a further behind an economic presents and jobs for Citizens as a local business owner I drove to serve my customers on a daily basis this is a problem I understand the states on the district to provide one way English as a second language ESL classes the new arrival Center in AC and English Language Academy Ela offered with nbimc however you must also realize a growing need to engage and speakers equal opportunities for bilingualism to ensure a true respect and blending of cultures through the way Spanish and English speaking class setting the benefits of which are when when as this is for the two ways English and speaking children who learn not only from their formal instructions but also among themselves on a daily basis the result is huge opportunity economic advantages for this job opportunities now along with her scores on standardized test and prove abilities and Divergent created stopping in middle engine linguistic awareness when I'm asking you today is a parent and business during the Opera public forum to the viable options on how the program may be kept at Henderson a program that is not even four years old or placement of what are program including assisting students at Henderson at one campus such as was done with the gifted and talented program currently to maintain nuity with the program and the families with multiple siblings May attend the same school that are currently within Henderson program many parents are still unaware of the law don't language program especially the several that it ruled today that there kindergarteners at Henderson Elementary and with so little time to move on parents to attend I got several I began discussions with some districts 4 sentences make a phone call on Friday about the impact that lives in the program and Henderson would do and possible ways of the program may be restructured in order to keep the program in Henderson and Johnson Elementary play the time in open communication that talked to roses and this Veil is provided and believe that it is given permission by the Board of Trustees  a solution would be at and well attended there a public forum along with the data on Reasons from those that have left the program this far again I thank you for your commitment and consideration to keeping this program in Henderson Elementary is this on the same topic yes it is Leanne Hale I thank you for hearing from me I'm super short here and sweep I've had it since I've been there a second grader and a kind of kindergarten that I would love to start this program Beacon Reef in Spanish she's never had a bad experience I didn't want to get up sex is so important to me you know they say that the most important thing you can have in school what involved. And that is what we have our parents friends to our parents are there when any can you speak any language the program and we are here and it works it works we could do it another way together we all know it's amazing program and if it's if it's an you know what I can away with this opportunity and then in Henderson just going to waste those parents what's going to happen that's cool I live across the street and I'm scared that's cool if this program and it's going to be a detriment is my community and I'm going to have to find something else to do with my friend program thank you YouTube it was a good day for the boys breaking another good example of the city working well with the city the school to the state parks and wheel we had I don't know how many I guess three different  Group Morgan stations that performed the First Fridays this past Friday and her great marks and girl going remarks on each one of them and that's results of our city schools also we talked about the issues with the Carver spell and talk to are turning and so at this point what we're doing is waiting on the appraisal that got to get an additional appraisal and working on that so those are really the big things that we talked stop it mister said his request we have got to call in to A&M stuff about the facilities arrangement to see With A & M can do something fast on the festivities because when you look at the amount of money we spend on graduation part 2 high school's it's substantial and if they can help us at all that'd be great because I think they want to work with us but I know doctorow Kim is Keenan been working with an M but then there's an issue this year of charging 5 charge a car or $5 for parking and when you begin yeah but I'm happy alarm for parking and so anybody that comes that's $5 when you look at our children many of our kiddos come early to get lined up and got to get hair done right and all that kind of stuff that's two cars so a minimum $10 free pretty much for long time and it's a good opportunity to watch the game and celebrate with the grey planes go on at Johnson Hill they have been a National Blue Ribbon School twice so there's a lot to celebrate it Jonathan so we look forward to May 10th and the time on that will let you know exactly what time that is but won't go out  **** yeah call me and I am a PTA vice president and is another today we are spearheading these Onsen 40th birthday celebration we have a committee of former Raiders and parents from Johnson Elementary some name that y'all probably will recognize Diana curtains Sandy light Rita Bowman Joan Moore Carol hat Margaret Cathy Lyles Joanne Patronella Yolanda Lopez gaeke Sharon Ogden and Robin Adam these ladies have been amazing at putting the celebration together and reaching out to former and stew and current Johnson family so we wanted to invite you all officially to come to the school on Friday May 10th at 1:30 will have a reception for for a former families and students and administrators and teachers and then it to our Johnson Jammers which is the guitar send rum club and then our celebration singers which is our school choir they will be performing a music program and they're going to actually be singing former Johnson School songs like play through the decade so they're going to do some some fun entertainment there and then at 2:30 we're going to have a parade on the inside of our iron soccer of the fence that goes goes Stocker field there so we would love for y'all to come I hear rumors that Blue Bell is donating ice cream that day so y'all come consideration under a business Earth as we have to both sorry you'll have to wait, tomorrow we'll be hearing House Bill 5 I'm House Bill 5 is the the law that hopefully will pass it will drop the number of our intercourse test from change if I will be hard tomorrow there's some Senate changes are taking place and there is some grumblings out there that the governor so anything less than eight and so I've contacted everyone on the Senate education committee it's not too late for anybody to email them we're have to make a stand or that number to the up and their emails going around that they're there just some things with Hausfeld 5 not going to be made pure and changes we want it it's going to add more to our state teachers going to be added more to our students in our district so we want House Bill 5 to pass as it was written also there's no Senate Bill fixing to go out that talks about teacher retirement and with the retirement age being 62 for educators and so for those individuals who are just beginning their career they will be required to go to the age 62 did the math on mine and I missed it by ear so I've got to go to 62 and so that's going to be something that the state is way more money put into the teacher retirement system and I'm done I might how much about lay that got right now to stand on but that's another bill that's going to be coming down on but you going to be here in quite a bit also play Perry She testified at the capital this past week on a special ed Bill and she did very good we're very proud to be a representative to send it again and we're very proud of her so just want to update you on legislative session we passed a resolution to take as many tests as the governor can pass signature zebra okay moving on to consideration agenda items on C1 1313 good evening at three heads of the opportunity to apply and possibly participate and what is considered probably one of the last Economic Development tools for school districts of the very complicated process so I have mr. Bob popinski from the law firm of moak and Casey here to walk us through the next several items on the agenda and explain what a certain turtle proceso  anything I am about to Penske on with milk caseyneistat School Finance consulting firms to not only help kind of track legislation through the process we keep you up-to-date on the terrorist bill and House Bill 5 and help you with kind of school Finance modeling what the **** proposal in the Senate proposal and one of the things that we also do is help kind of guide school districts through the 313 process which has become pretty pretty intensive over the years it is one of the only economic development options left for school district along with the Freeport exemption except the chapter 313 applied to specific companies only in for Lanza at it is one of them say they meet all of the qualifications so first and foremost you have to have enough investment and bringing it under the valley limitation program Bryan ISD has a 30 million dollar limit so may have to have a project that's over 30 million dollars to qualify they also have to have the right number of jobs which is quit which they need to have over 200 jobs and have to meet a qualifying weight standard which is 110% of the regional wage so they would be paying those two hundred plus employs roughly $37,000 stop being sad because of the school Finance system that kind of wreaked havoc on school finances so that's why we're here and in your folder you should have free thing I most important being the spreadsheet here on the left side you have a 6 page summary of how it works and in detail which I want go over and I right behind that you'll see a lot of the districts that regret never represented since 2003 review represented school districts and roughly a hundred sixty-five the act of projects right now but the kind of going into detail it is a 10-year program the first two years volume the project which is 90 million dollars in this case is both taxable or m&o and I am so you're getting the full value the first two years to the 3rd year 2016-17 when the project style at at Valley Metro 115 point nine million dollars that you see the value limitation kick in and then the value take that step by the Comptroller it's based on how much industrial property value you have in the district you can't decide what what that is below the 30 million dollars stop so I feel follow me across to your tree on that spreadsheet in your 2016-17 school year the m&o value comes on at 115.9 volume dollar accept your taxing at 30 million dollars on the M&S died on the ins side remains taxable throughout the 10-year program so you're getting off all the ins value on 115 point nine million dollars so your point nine million dollars off the roll a dollar for tax rate the company is going to run save 1.2 million dollars they would have paid in taxes now they're going to pay roughly $312,000 so the net tax benefit to the under this program $893,000 now because of the way the school Finance formula works in the Comptroller property value study everything kind of lags by year and you see a pretty big number out there school district Revenue loss of roughly $918,000 the company in any agreement and they must do this by Statue is going to keep you whole for that amount until the Comptroller property value study catches up and and the fourth-year so comes 3rd year they're going to write you a check for 918622 or whatever the number happens to be that year based on the actual values now you can see that that first your the value limitation kicks in the company isn't actually saving anything because you're drawing down more stated they would have saved in taxes that's really not until the fourth year that they start saving roughly a million dollars a year and he go all the way down to the bottom you see over the course of the 10-year agreement the company saving 6 $2000000 and your cap harmless for all of that now in a dip in the school district in negotiate up to $100 / 88 4 year for the agreement and an additional benefit because you have a lot of ATA that's that's not feasible you would eat a ball of the tax savings so you negotiate a person catch up with the tax savings anywhere between 0% and we've had upwards of 40% in some cases that would be negotiated in the attorneys you for the donut and they've worked on on the same number of projects at as we have all in all our job is to make sure that you don't lose bang and you might get something in addition to that and that's why it's it's a good program and Edition under the effective tax rate in the truth and Taxation roll you don't have to include this property so it's not going to drive your tax rate down and the future you can exclude all chapter 313 value so there's there's a couple pause for entering into this agreement if they were to come you would be out not only the benefit but you would have to include it in your interest of Taxation so that in a nutshell is how the program works what what's what's going on tonight is there just coming to you saying we're going to submit an application at some point they don't haven't done yet so at the next meeting on if you choose to do so you accept the application and by accepting the application you're not binding the district to anything you're basically saying let's start the process and the process is is that you accept the application our firm will then review the app patience to make sure it's correct and turn it into the Comptroller along with our written report with basically details this and in about six or seven page from there the Comptroller will say okay this application looks looks complete and we'll start our 90-day review process so the write a letter say this is application complete at that point if the company with his to start building they can everything they build will qualify as qualified property and will count under the Asian still not binding you to anything once the comptroller's 90-day reviews over there they're going to have an economic analysis for you well I got a recommendation letter saying as as the Comptroller Texas we recommended projects you but in the end it's it's your boat to have so in a four months you will come back we'll come back with 15 findings of fact with along with the agreement and at that point you can take an up-or-down vote on everything application is is basically accepting the application you're not buying yourself anything is just starting the process so they don't have a quite complete yet but they should have a complete a fairly soon so your next meeting if you decide to accept the application we can move the ball forward on that I think I'll answer any black not be nitpicky but it sounds like we do everything we were asked to do tonight we are binding ourselves to pay you guys so what it what are we going to be on this deal right to us is actually paid by the company through the application fee so the district doesn't out anything there submit an application fee with their application and and that application fee paid for your services at no point is the school district out any do you watch the Weber in and we do work for the school district just because they're paying the application fee we don't work for the company that all that might have been here but we just got to swim say I will be at work in your not you're not bound to the hiring elsewhere you know if you decide to use someone else that's fine too but I just want to clear that thank you  the other question is there a car next regular meeting that we would take action on this would be month is there any time limits have been considered building sooner rather than later that sooner you accept the application and get that comptroller recommended recommendation letter comptroller completeness letter back the better there are representatives from the company I think they do have a tighter time frame on sub what are the better if you happen to have a special meeting you call before then that'll be great if not the next meeting would be fine too I'm assuming that for some reason they said we can't reimburse the district then they would have it at the same time of the the savings that they would have gotten and they wouldn't be taxed at the pull of meow and yes they decide to build and and the agreement is not entered in two and is fully taxable both on the Emma don't know anything we do anytime right there in financial trouble and can't do that is it then kind of retroactive Lee add back to the tax liability sold and they owe you everything they would have owed in taxes plus penalty and interest that's what I think they're working on deals with the study in accounting this company is coming here regardless of what the board decides here with them not sure about that adapter or looking at other sites and they're looking at at other venues so my guess is that they they are give the number of districts on here have multiple agreement so I assume that they've seen the benefit in it yes and unfortunately they they put in the hundred dollar Brady a cap sub before 2010 District saw a greater benefit than they do now so you know and it is under sunset this legislative session so they might change the benefit again but this application would sneak under any changes and so that hundred dollars so far. App will be available to even know you guys wouldn't reach that that a question is looking at some of the information they talked about different payment method and you talked about the protection payment and I think there was also a supplemental with there was another with those the third one about a special educational right extraordinary educational expenses absolutely which Andover almost 200 projects has never been used so that's essentially up the projects big enough with this one might be it's bringing in over 200 jobs you might need to add on a classroom or higher the special teacher you can apply tea for those extraordinary expenses and and get reimbursed by the company but like I said that's that provision has never been used so I might be a test case the other question coordinator is going to share with you some about small group guided reading instruction in a few other things with the first year of our early reading initiative and then IndyStar secondary coordinator is going to share a district-wide intervention we put in place this year for students to make it to the middle school or high school and you're still not reading on grade level Siri if you really want to make sure we are meeting as students where they are and taking them to their grade level expectations when way we have done that is related make her small group guided reading instruction empowered help with that by making it level library that each campus to provide reading materials for teachers to access for these Margaret breeding instructions for their small group reading instruction and we're even continuing to when did that this year and so hopefully with these changes will see all of her students reaching does grade level Expectations by the end of the year each year when students reach middle school and they're not reading at grade level we've implemented a district-wide program called read 180 and System 44 which addresses the students need also on their individual instructional level we look at students in small group students enter three rotations and read 180 and the computer is a very big part of what's going on in the classroom we studied the results how students did after this fall semester you invested in an instructional coach who comes from Scholastic to make sure that we're implementing program to the very best of its ability and we had great great results with this model it's estimated that about 35 set of our students and read 180 have already made the growth of a year and that is phenomenal because these are certainly students who have throughout their school career in addition to that we also know that overall at middle school and high school student found a .7 year growth with a read 180 Program so we're seeing really good success and we're interested to see where it will go in the future tomorrow I'm traveling to Katy ISD where they also use read 180 and they're looking to innovate a new course where students learn more critical thinking skills once they've developed the the reading knowledge and the reading know how it's okay what can I do with that because some of those foundational skills delayed at elementary so I'm excited to see where that will take our students in the video that you're about to see I'm as barbecued up you're going to hear teachers talking from elementary about their small group instruction which we know is the best practice and then you're going to see Middle School and High School teachers talking about read 180 reading is important for students because it gives the teacher an opportunity to work with them and individualize setting a lot of times with students if the teacher teaching and taking 20 through the same time the teacher is not able to fully assess what it is this is this house may be struggling with and so I'm pretty sure to be able to work with him in a group five or six you're able to identify whether it's word attack skills that they're needing and maybe the decoding or the phonics component and maybe the fluency that they're struggling with where it might be the comprehension and so when I'm working with a group of five or six students I'm able to easily assess what their needs are and then be able to help the students strengthen I'm so difficult areas for them I'm also able to kind of give students an opportunity to read something that is on their level whereas if you're reading a whole group setting you have students who feel anxious or who are worried because they don't want to read in front of someone because reading may be a struggle for them and we going to smoke that in your able to pick packs that are on that level and it gives that student the confidence to be able to continue to I don't feel embarrassed in order to read out loud and things like that so the kids love it I just seen such an impact in my classroom with using guided reading I think some of my lowest reader just improved so much because of the fact that they have that confidence and they are able to I'm able to assess what it is that they need Adam able to address those needs and make the turn of the weaknesses in this drinks for my students I feel that by doing a small group with them it's really given them the tools go back and they're reading and question themselves and it's really made and much stronger reader whether they're listening to reading or reading with a partner or reading this so I am really impressed with how hard and how far they've come as first graders read 180 is a fantastic tool for reading intervention and it is a great great benefit to my ESL kids I tell my kids that is not where start but how you finish and where you finish and with read 180 you have the ability to if you're motivated to really put some reading behind you and just kind of a jump start pushing my ESL kids with vocabulary and their other classes help me with vocabulary that level then they're going proving that level is rising with them so they're always on that learning Edge that keeps them focused on improving and improving to the next level good thing about read 180 is that there's so much data that backs up took his weaknesses and strengths and so I'm able to pull those at the least every 6 weeks I got to do that quite a bit and I can see areas that they are our weekend and then they have books that we from to work out of in those weak areas that's why I differentiate with each of these kids when I see the kids are having it a little too easy and everything they do to the same this is dreezy I'll let's go you're not set up a little bit and that helps them sleep the different level and challenges a little bit more because they're such a data Rich component to read 180 teachers and administrators at the campus level and at the district level will able to see the the classrooms were teachers maybe struggling or students are struggling and really sure that we're intervening and providing that coaching support for them lots of data regarding how many minutes do units are on software how many spelling test fast even how their Lexile is progressing as they learn to read  do you
