To nominate a Bryan ISD alumni for the 2025 Hall of Honor, please fill out the form below and return by mail or email. The nominee must be a graduate of Bryan ISD and should have excelled in the areas of career achievements, strength of character, and citizenship. Nominations are due Dec 31, 2024.

The Hall of Honor was created by The BISD Education Foundation as a way to honor alumni of Bryan ISD who have excelled in the areas of career achievements, strength of character, and citizenship . These individuals serve as models to inspire and challenge today’s students. Hall of Honor nomination categories include Arts/Humanities, Business/Industry, Community Service, Education, Public Service, Recreation/Athletics, and Special Recognition.

Growing up in Bryan, Texas with both parents as educators, David Segrest graduated from SFA High School in 1963. David was a three sport letterman, captain of the football team and Valedictorian of his graduating class. Attending Texas Tech University after graduation, David would go on to graduate with honors and score the second highest in his class on the Texas Bar Exam. 

David is married to Sarah Segrest and has four children, two stepchildren and nine grandchildren. David and Sarah are active members of the First United Methodist Church Richardson. In his free time, he enjoys his family, his ranch in Junction, Texas, sports and history. 

Beverly Brown has valued her roots and the land of Bryan, Texas for her entire life. A graduate of Bryan High School and captain of the BHS Shy-Annes, Beverly spent all of her school years in Bryan ISD. After majoring in Education Curriculum and Instruction at Texas A&M University, Beverly began her teaching career at Anson Jones Middle School in Bryan ISD. 

Beverly loves giving back to the community by volunteering with Aggieland Humane Society, Brazos Church Pantry, Chosen, Meals on Wheels and Ship International. She is also an active member of First Methodist Church, Bryan, the Woman’s Club and serves on the advisory board for the Brazos Valley Museum of Natural History. 

Living out her passion, Beverly has made a lasting impact in many different areas and aspects of life. Beverly is married to Donnis Baggett. 

A member of the first graduating class of Bryan High School in 1972, Irvin D. Peterson went on to live a life encompassed by his passion for music. Transferring from Kemp High School to Bryan High School upon its opening, Irvin was a saxophone player in the bands for both schools. He was the first ever Viking Band President and upon graduation, Irvin attended the University of Texas in Austin. 

As a member of “The President’s Own” United States Marine Band in Washington, DC, Irvin performed regularly at the White House for Jimmy Carter, Ronald Reagan, George Bush, William Clinton and George Bush II. Widely considered to be the best concert band in the world, Irvin traveled internationally and across the United States with the Marine Band.

Retiring in 2007 as a Master Gunnery Sergeant after 30 years of active duty service with the Marine Corps, Irvin now maintains an in-home studio and serves as a local church organist, choirmaster and singer. Few people get the opportunity to perform for our nation’s leaders, yet Irvin D. Peterson, a Bryan High School graduate, was on that stage for three decades.

A Bryan, Texas native, Lester Banks has spent his entire life giving back to his community. Lester is a 1984 graduate of Bryan High School and following graduation, Lester went on to receive his Associate of Arts Degree from Blinn College.

Through the Boys and Girls Club, Lester has organized the first “Fellowship of Christian Athletes Chapter” within the organization.

Most notably, Lester established the Lester Ben Banks Sr. Scholarship in honor of his father who always taught him the importance of giving back to the community. Over the years, Lester has provided over $200,000 in local scholarships for Bryan ISD graduates who have shown outstanding service to the community and maintained good academic achievement.

Lester is the son of Lester and Flora Banks and has four sisters and two brothers. With over 30 years of dedicated service to altering the lives of the youth in Bryan, Texas, Lester is a remarkable, impactful and unforgettable servant leader within the Brazos Valley.
