“One specific example about how the Care Closet has benefited students was when we had a student this past year have a house fire. The whole family lost everything! I was able to make some care bags for the student and his siblings. I was able to get some deodorant, socks, underwear and dinners for them to have for the first couple of days after the fire. I have also had female students gain their confidence when coming to the care closet to get feminine products.
This has been the best thing I could have ever implemented or created at Sam Rayburn. The number of students that have had their basic needs met just from the Care Closet has been life changing for me. I learned a lot about students who are in need of certain things and I would have never known otherwise.”

“Un ejemplo específico de que el armario de asistencia (Care Closet) ha beneficiado a los estudiantes fue que el año pasado un estudiante sufrió un incendio en su casa. ¡Toda la familia lo perdió todo! Pude hacer algunas bolsas de cuidado para el estudiante y sus hermanos. Pude conseguir algo de desodorante, calcetines, ropa interior y cenas para ellos durante los primeros días después del incendio. También he tenido alumnas que ganaron su confianza al venir al armario de cuidados para obtener productos femeninos. Esto ha sido lo mejor que pude haber implementado o creado en Rayburn.
