Continuing Professional Education (CPE)

All professional staff members are responsible for keeping an official portfolio of their CPE hours. Records kept and maintained by the district through Eduphoria are unofficial records and house only the trainings provided by the district. Certificates for these trainings can be generated in the Eduphoria workshop feature.

The following excerpt is from TEA's website regarding CPEs:

Renewal Requirements

Continuing professional education (CPE) is required to renew a standard certificate.

  • Classroom teachers must complete 150 CPE hours every five years.

  • If you hold a professional certificate you must complete 200 CPE hours.

    • Administrative and student services are professional certificates.

  • Educational Aides are not required to complete CPE hours.


New CPE Requirements

Dyslexia CPE training is required for educators who teach students with dyslexia and must include new research and practices in educating students with dyslexia. 

New requirements for CPE are in effect as of September 1, 2013 (TAC ยง232.11[c][4-6]). Standards for specific positions are available below:
