English as a Second Language (ESL)

Purpose/Goal
The goal of the program is for Emergent Bilinguals to become competent in listening, speaking, reading, and writing in English through the integrated use of second language methods.

Program Description/Summary

English as a Second Language (ESL) offers instruction designed to develop proficiency in listening, speaking, reading, and writing in the English language.  Instruction in ESL shall be commensurate with the student’s level of English proficiency and his or her level of academic achievement. ESL programs use English as the language of instruction when delivering content.

In Bryan ISD, we have both an ESL Pull-out and an ESL Content-Based program:
