Bryan ISD Superintendent Ginger Carrabine

Dear Bryan ISD Families,

Thank you for your involvement and support throughout another outstanding school year in Bryan ISD! As we complete the school year, I wanted to update you on several semester highlights and district goals moving forward.

Bryan ISD Build in Partnership with Habitat for Humanity

After nine months of a complete community and district effort to raise $80,000, the walls to our district’s Habitat for Humanity Home are up! The dream is becoming a reality and our deserving Bryan ISD family will be moving into their new home this summer. We couldn’t be more excited.

As this home continues to take shape and reach completion, we will keep everyone updated!

Family & Community Engagement - Our Focus Moving Forward

The impact of the Covid-19 Pandemic has had a drastic impact on the educational system in our country. Much of our ability to bring parents, families and community members into our schools in the last few years has been limited and we are planning to make a change. As we move into the new school year in August, Bryan ISD is committed to bringing YOU back into our schools in as many ways as possible. By focusing on Family and Community Engagement, I wholeheartedly believe that our district and your own student’s success will be influenced in a positive manner.

In beginning to prioritize Family and Community Engagement, I met this week with invested community leaders who will help in enhancing, promoting and involving our community and our district parents/families immediately. I am ecstatic about their involvement and willingness to help make a difference in our Bryan ISD students’ education.

Celebrations

So many Bryan ISD programs have had a storybook semester. Academically, all students have worked diligently this school year. A great example of that is Bryan High School’s Valedictorian who will be attending the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in the fall. He was also a 2023 National Merit Finalist. We are very proud of ALL of our graduates who are prepared for transition into a University, trade school, military, workforce, or some combination of these choices. Athletically, our district had 5 State Tournament appearances, bringing home a total of 4 state medals. Career and Technical Education (CTE) had 450 students compete at the state and national level, showcasing their talents in everything from Underwater Robotics to our first ever BBQ Team. In Fine Arts, over 40 students competed at the state level and our district hosted the State Mariachi Invitational. I continue to be amazed by our student’s level of talent across so many different disciplines in Bryan ISD.

Sadberry Intermediate

We are thrilled that Sadberry Intermediate will be opening its doors in August. What an exciting time for our future Mustang teachers and students to have the opportunity to be the school’s very first class. Sadberry Intermediate School will open with 5th grade students for the 2023-2024 school year.

Summer Reading

Summer reading is the key to success for ALL students in ALL grades. Please encourage your student(s) to read throughout the summer. All formats for reading materials (books, comics, magazines, etc.) are great too! Our library team is on the road all summer. Check out the schedule for our mobile library, the WOW bus. The WOW bus has books for all ages and continually updates the selection of books available.

Our Advanced Academic programs continue to shine and provide many different avenues in which students can excel. If your student is registered for one of these programs next fall, please click on this link for their Summer Reading information. Please know, all students are invited to read the suggested books!

State Assessment (STAAR & EOC) Changes & What to Expect

We wanted to make sure all parents knew about the changes with STAAR/EOC’s this Spring. The Texas Education Agency (TEA) has redesigned the STAAR/EOC assessments to include new question types (inline choice, drag and drop, multiselect, etc.) as well as additional short answer and written responses. As a result, TEA has pushed back the reporting of results to schools and families. High School EOC results will be available online on June 30th and STAAR results for grades 3-8 will be available August 16th. More information is available at texasassessment.gov

This has been an unforgettable school year. Your involvement in your student’s education has been and continues to be pivotal in their academic achievements. I look forward to working hand in hand with you in the coming school years to assure your students’ and our schools’ success.

Please enjoy our end of the year video in which we celebrate our amazing staff!

Have a terrific summer!

Sincerely,

Ginger Carrabine
