Coach Blake Joseph

Bryan Independent School District is proud to announce the hiring of Blake Joseph as the new head football coach and campus athletic coordinator of the Bryan High School Vikings, marking a special homecoming for the 2005 Bryan High School graduate.

Coach Joseph is no stranger to Viking football. As a student-athlete at Bryan High School, he earned 1st Team All-District and 1st Team All-Brazos Valley honors as the Vikings’ quarterback, helping lay the foundation for a football journey that has come full circle.

Following graduation, Joseph continued his playing career at the collegiate level, competing at both the University of Houston and Sam Houston State University. His passion for the game and leadership on the field naturally led to coaching, where he has built an impressive résumé across high school and collegiate football programs.

Professionally, Coach Joseph served as Head Football Coach at Magnolia West High School for three years before moving into the collegiate ranks as the Quarterbacks Coach at the University of North Texas. Prior to his time at Magnolia West, he coached at both Temple High School and Caldwell High School, gaining valuable experience at the high school level. Most recently, he brought his offensive expertise to Denton Guyer High School, one of Texas’ premier football programs, where he served as the team’s Offensive Coordinator.

“We are incredibly proud to welcome Coach Joseph back home,” said Dereck Rush, Bryan ISD Athletic Director. “His storybook career began here at Bryan High School, and his experience, leadership, and deep connection to our community make him an outstanding fit to lead our Vikings into the future.”

Bryan High School Principal, Dr. Greg Bowhuis, also expressed excitement about the hire. “We are thrilled to welcome Coach Joseph to Bryan High School. His commitment to supporting all athletic programs while making both academic and athletic success a priority truly aligns with our campus values. We are confident he will be a tremendous leader for our students and coaches.”

Coach Joseph returns to Bryan High School with a commitment to excellence, player development, and Viking pride, ready to build upon tradition while shaping the next generation of student-athletes.

Coach Joseph, his wife Tori, who is also from the area, and their four children are excited about returning to Bryan.
