Dear Bryan ISD Staff,
At its June 1, 2026, meeting, the Bryan ISD Board of Trustees approved the Employee Compensation Plan for the 2026–2027 school year.
The approved compensation plan continues the salary increases implemented by Bryan ISD last year, as well as those provided through House Bill 2 during the 2025-2026 school year. Teachers with 1–2 years of experience will continue receiving a $2,500 Bryan ISD-funded increase, while teachers with 3–4 years of experience will receive a $2,500 House Bill 2 salary increase. Teachers with 5 or more years of experience will continue receiving a $5,000 House Bill 2 salary increase, ensuring these increases remain part of eligible employees’ compensation for the 2026-2027 school year.
For new teachers, the starting salary will increase to $53,500, up from $52,500 last school year. The compensation plan also includes step increases for all teachers on the salary schedule and continues high-needs and critical assignment stipends ranging from $2,000 to $6,000 for eligible positions.
Additionally, teachers will continue to benefit from a strong instructional coaching model, a comprehensive first-year teacher mentorship program, and opportunities for additional compensation through the Teacher Incentive Allotment (TIA), with 96% of Bryan ISD teachers employed in positions that are eligible for TIA payouts.
Under the new compensation plan, all full-time Bryan ISD employees will receive a one-time $500 stipend in December 2026, and bus drivers will receive a $50-per-week perfect attendance bonus.
In addition to competitive compensation, Bryan ISD remains committed to supporting employee growth and well-being. The district offers comprehensive healthcare benefits with affordable premiums and contributes $545 per month toward each employee’s health insurance, more than double the state-required contribution of $225 per month.
During the discussion, trustees also inquired about additional funding sources to support future employee compensation efforts, recognizing that attracting and retaining high-quality staff is essential to student success and to sustaining the programs that make a difference for students in Bryan ISD. Norma Friddle, Assistant Superintendent of Business Services, provided an overview of available funding options and the district's efforts to support budgetary balance and fiscal stability. Ms. Friddle also noted that, should the Board successfully pursue additional strategies to improve compensation in the future, such measures would be implemented retroactively.
The Board encouraged administration to continue identifying and evaluating additional opportunities, including efficiencies across multiple areas, to support and increase employee compensation and fund district programs. Board President Joel Bryan acknowledged the district’s efforts and emphasized that achieving financial sustainability will enhance student outcomes and experiences, recognize and reward deserving staff, sustain district programs, and strengthen Bryan ISD for the future.
We are grateful for a fiscally responsible Board of Trustees whose thoughtful leadership supports our employees, safeguards the district’s financial future, and keeps children first, always.
